AlfaPower

Welcome non-swedish users

mopar - 2007-3-14 kl 23:14

This thread is meant mainly for our users from outside Scandinavia, the thought behind this thread is to have one solely English thread for newcomers to help them get started on the forum.

So if non Swedish users would be kind and say hello in this thread, and maybe ask forum related questions here if there is something you don't understand, the thread will become sort of a knowledge bank after a while.
Of course ordinary posts should be in the various category's, this is strictly a thread to get you going.

For our Swedish speaking users, don't post gibberish in this thread, and keep it in English, other posts will be deleted!

Hope you will enjoy our little space on the web!

/crew

Georg - 2007-3-15 kl 21:49

Surelywe have the same questions about our alfas all over this planet I imagine. I been having some good exchange in solutions with people in New Zealand some years ago.
But - Mopar, will we have a special subject "English spoken" or similar under folder "Alfaromeo" later on ?

:beerchug:

mopar - 2007-3-15 kl 21:54

Well depending on the response in this thread basically...
We won't put an effort into making an English version of the forum unless there are quite a few registered users from abroad.

So far noone has posted in this thread so I assume the intrest is limited.

/mopar

Georg - 2007-3-16 kl 07:26

Maybe there is some need to post directly by mail to some people abroad to let know there is this possibility. There are some alfasites that are international. Am I right Wille ?
You could announce it on Veloce. There are in fact a lot of guys and girls that do NOT drive spiders but are in the need of help or exhchange of thoughts about their virus or similar questions.

True, I have a lot of visitors from English speaking alfisti. I'll add a link from the www.veloce.se if you like. Over the years I've had so many nice contacts and meetings thanks to the Internet.

Cheers :beerchug:

And the thread has been up for a whole day! :oO
We have visitors from other countries already, they just haven't posted as much because they have absolutely no clue what we are talking about...

I have added a few galleries for some of them actually (hence the english captions on the menus there)

maurizio - 2007-3-16 kl 09:37

Ok lets start promoting for the good cause.......

What the hell are you guys talking about :D

mopar - 2007-3-16 kl 18:34

Well thats the problem of course, and thats the main idea with this thread. It gives us an rough idea about how many non-Scandinavian people we have here on the site, and based upon that we will make a decision whether to make a English section of the forum or not.

So come on and let us know that you are here, take a moment to register and post a few lines in here with your views and ideas.

Barry - 2007-3-17 kl 15:09

Georg,The Giulietta is terrible! Its a customers car and all Im doing is the engine and turbo setup.

The second engine is going into a green 20l gtv.It had a 4 cyl turbo in it but it was terrible. We opted for the v6 turbo.

Also busy with a 3.8l 24v for an SZ and 24v turbo for my Giulietta.:afro:

I'd say that it was pretty, but that doesn't sound very manly... let's call that a purposeful looking beasty.

Just bought a 75v6, but now I'm regreting it. Wanted the engine for my giulietta, but after the 10 hour drive home, I've become rather attached to the car. *sigh*

Laziness dictates that I help keep this thread alive

MaZ - 2007-3-29 kl 07:46

There's a couple of pictures there. Now it looks kind of sad with the interior sitting on top of it. Stripped it out to weld the floorpan, and prepare it for a motor swap. Can't say that it's easy with a small garage, a parking space, and three cars. City centre living sucks sometimes.

Giulietta might have to wait for some love though, the 75 donor i bought nearly went straight through the erm.. MOT/Roadworthiness test. Too many Alfas, too little time and money :D

Barry - 2007-4-2 kl 16:29

Richie, that car is worth saving I reckon...

Im saving this one I found in a junk yard..:afro:

Richie - 2007-4-2 kl 17:38

It is, that is the problem. If it was ready for the scrapheap, it'd be there now so I could get my garage back :)

Floor pan has rust, and one of the inner sills. Other than that there was a guy in sweden saved it from the junk yard about 10 years back. Loads of new metal welded in... oh Giulietta, why were you sent here to test me so?

Barry - 2007-4-17 kl 06:10

I gave away the giulietta ! :oO
Two guys came and got her, gave her a quick bit of work and they are taking her for the motorvehicle testing thing today (what do you call the MOT test in SA?). If all goes well it'll make the big meet on the 1st of May. :banana_thingy:

We're glad to see that we have a few "forign" users aswell, we haven't enabled the english part of the forum just because this thread haven't attracted that many non Swedish users as we expected.
But keep us posted, and maybe we will enable a few english sections of the forum and see if that attracts more alfistis around the world.

Grant - 2007-9-19 kl 03:28

Hi. Can someone help me post an ad in the parts wanted section?

I'm trying to find some larger (28.9 to 31mm) torsion bars for my 75.

If someone could tell me what buttons to click that would be REALLY appreciated.

The only words I've picked up are efter (after?) and mins (mine?).

Anyhow, thanks in advance,
Grant from the states.

mopar - 2007-9-19 kl 06:16

Hi there Grant,

Lets see if we can help you.

On the start page, hit "annonsmarknad" right under the picture on top of the site.
Next, click "Delar köpes" in the new toolbar that appears (parts wanted)
Then the next step is to click "Lägg till ny annons (Delar köpes)"
A pop-up should appear now, in the first grey field you set the topic, the next field is meant for phone number (I think you can skip this) The third field is price, and I think you can leave this blank as well. Then finally there is the large field for content (don't forget your contact information)
When you are done, hit "nästa" the pop-up change so that you could add a photo if you want so, skip this and finally hit "klar" and the add should be added to the database.

If you hit the tag "annonsmarknad" again, followed by "delar köpes" you will be able to see your add.

Good luck now.

Grant, please also add your name in your signature, we all know you are from San Jose, California but please homour us.

Grant - 2007-9-21 kl 06:57

Hello Mats. Yes, this is me from San Jose. I would do as you suggested but I can't even navigate around the very tantalising photo gallery on this site, let alone add a signature!

I suppose it is very much like the alfagtv6.com/bb but I'm much more familiar with the vbulletin software that the BB uses.

How is everyon'e english so good here by the way? Quite remarkable all things considered. Makes me feel pretty bad when I've never even been taught the currency you guys use!

Grant - 2007-9-21 kl 07:01

Now everything is in English????

MaZ - 2007-9-21 kl 07:23

Everything? Not only the buttons?

Online? At this hour? Get some sleep man... ;)

Grant - 2007-9-21 kl 07:46

It's 11:39 PM =)

But yeah, only buttons. I'm at about the same point as before actually. I've just been clicking around and am finding all kinds of cool projects that I haven't seen much reference too on the GTV6 forum.

jamieandthemagictorch - 2007-10-10 kl 11:23

Hello everyone

Just thought I'd have a look round this forum & introduce myself.

I'm an alfa nut from the East of the UK, with a passion for 75's

I thought I ought to have a look at this swedish site - My girlfriend is 1/2 swedish (& owns a scandinavian design shop in the UK) - if she sees me on this forum she probably wont mind......because its swedish .

Anyway theres some seriously nice cars on here.

I come over to Sweden quite often, as my father in law races his Lotus Cortina & Morgan their (I was at sturrup recently) & I often give him a hand.

I guess I can post here, after all I live in Latin America :P

By the way, last week I was in Venezuela. Didn't see a single Alfa Romeo, only an old sign at a FIAT dealer. A pity in a country where a full tank of gas costs about the same as a bottle of water.

MartijnGTA - 2018-6-7 kl 15:50

Seems pretty quiet here...

I'm new to this site...not to driving Alfa Romeo. After a 155 2.0 WB, 75 1.8ie, Spider 2.0, Giulietta 1.4 Multiair and a 156 1.8 on gas...we now have the following Bella's at our disposal:

spvdww.jpg - 609kB

And...I'm pretty happy with finding this site, because I got some valuable tips for the work on my Crosswagon already!

The transmission on the 156 Crosswagon is almost bullet proof. Drove mine up to 260000 km and only changed a bearing on the prop-shaft. But at that time the clutch started to get worn. But at that mileage I think it's a service point. I pulled my racecar and a lot of other heavy trailers with that car. Loved it! Also did a trip down to Italy one summer. On the way home we made a lap on Nurburgring :steering:
