:bananana:

Bring On 2014!!

75 laps now completed for @Ericsson_Marcus which means he's passed the 300km mark required by the FIA to qualify for his Superlicence

Marcus Ericsson: "I'm pleased with how my first day on track in Bahrain went. 98 laps is obviously very good news in terms of reliability, and it also means I've passed the 300kms I needed to do to qualify for a Superlicence. The boys have worked really hard today and we've pretty much had no issues which meant I could just get on with the program, and that was the main goal for today.

"Performance-wise there's still a lot more to come, both from the car and the engine. The times today didn't really mean anything, and although it's always nice to put in a quicker time, we've been doing pretty long runs all day and just working through the plan. Now I can't wait to get back in the car again and hopefully our reliability record so far will hold up."

Cedrik Staudohar, Track Support Leader, Renault Sport F1: "Another positive day and 98 laps for Marcus means we have managed to complete a lot more of the program we set for this test. For most of the day we were focused on long runs, continuing to try different Power Unit maps that are helping us improve the driveability of the package, something that is of critical importance with the increased torque we have this year. It is also good to have that much mileage with Marcus after the limited running we had with him in Jerez. Tomorrow we will continue to increase the performance output of the Power Unit and aim for a similar number of laps as we achieved today."

Times at 1300 local time: Perez (1:35.570 / 33 laps), Alonso (1:35.634 / 45), Button (1:36.901 / 20), Bianchi (1:38.198 / 33), Hamilton (1:39.041 / 61), Massa (1:39.323 / 43), Vergne (1:39.756 / 30), Gutierrez (1:40.428 / 41), Ricciardo (1:40.867 / 15), Maldonado (1:41.762 / 24), Ericsson (1:42.516 / 22)

Marcus Ericsson: "My first day of the final test in the car and it obviously didn't end as we wanted it to, but we did achieve quite a lot of the plan we'd set for the day. We'd had a stop/start morning but the afternoon session was going well until a technical problem just after I exited the pits after the first stint of a race simulation started a fire which forced me to stop the car on track. We'd started after lunch with a few runs evaluating setup options and then went onto the full race simulation which was going to plan until just after the first pitstop when the problem started and I had to pull over. However, we had been able to run through a lot of the procedures we'd planned for today, including race starts and launches, so I'm pleased we've ticked them off.

"The fire itself was out pretty quickly and the boys now have a lot of work ahead of them to find out what happened and get it all fixed for tomorrow. I'd like to have had some more laps today, but we still have another day left and with every lap I'm learning, so I'm still as positive as I was when we arrived here and just want to get back in the car and back to work."

Cedrik Staudohar, Track Support Leader, Renault Sport F1: "We made some more progress today but the day obviously did not end as anyone in the team would have wanted. From our side, we continue to understand more about the issues we have to deal with to unlock the full performance of the Power Unit, but reliability is also key and we will continue to focus on that for the last two days of the final test, and back at Viry where everybody is focused on finding solutions to give the team the best chance of success when the season starts in Australia."

Driver: Marcus Ericsson, car #9

Chassis: CT05-#02

Total laps: 117

Marcus Ericsson: "I'm very pleased we finished off my pre-season tests with so many laps and I want to thank the team for working so hard last night to fix the car after the problems we had yesterday. The day went exactly to plan - we started with a few short runs to go through some setup options, and then ran very nearly a whole race simulation, including stops, which was just what we wanted to do today. If it hadn't been for the late red flag just before lunch we'd have finished the whole distance, but the fact the car ran faultlessly all afternoon showed we'd pretty easily have finished a complete race mileage and that's very good news for the start of the season.

"In the afternoon we put on some new parts that arrived from the factory and spent a bit of time trying various setups with those, and then, towards the end of the session we started focusing more on performance and the laptimes started coming down. The final run was my first ever laps on the supersofts and I have to say I was surprised by how much more grip they had than the softs! With more experience of them there's obviously more laptime to be found from those compounds and that will come. We still have more to come from the whole package in outright pace, but we have to be pleased with the amount of work we've got through today, and, for me, having that much time in the car is a great way to sign off the tests.

"I'm back in the factory next week for more sim sessions, and we have more new parts coming for Australia so we have lots to look forward to. Also, for Renault, this has obviously been a tough pre-season, but they continue to improve and we know they'll keep working harder than ever to unlock the full performance we know is there. Overall I'm happy, for the team and for me, and I'm more excited than ever about starting the race season properly in Australia."

Cedrik Staudohar, Track Support Leader, Renault Sport F1: "A much more positive day for us than we have had this week, and running a full race distance shows how much progress we are making. We believe we have turned a corner with reliability and this will allow us to focus more of our efforts on outright performance, something we can look at tomorrow with Kamui. The objective for the final day is obviously to repeat the mileage Marcus achieved today, and then we will have a much clearer view of where we are at the end of the pre-season tests."
